Where are you located? We are an online fine art service only. No corporate offices. However, Lane is a resident of Florida, USA.
-
What is Lane Smith Fine Art?Lane Smith Fine Art is a luxury brand of Fine Art Photography by Photographer Lane Smith. Lane sells fine art photography worldwide through our online store.
-
Do you sell Limited Edition artwork?Currently all of our fine art pieces are open editions. However, Limited Edition pieces will be available in the near future.
-
Will the price of the artwork change over time?As demand for Lane’s Fine Art Photographs goes up, so does the price. Collecting early guarantees you are also receiving the most competitive pricing available.
-
What kind of craftsmanship and materials are used for the artwork? Please see our THE PROCESS link on our homepage for information on the craftsmanship that goes into each fine art photograph, but we use only the highest quality materials.
-
Can I order a custom size not offered in your online store?Custom sizes are available for all of our paper print, metal and acrylic editions. To order a custom size, please use our CONTACT US link and send us your inquiries. We can give you a custom price quote based on your desired sizing. Not all sizes are available on every piece.
-
Can I frame my artwork?Absolutely! We currently are not advertising frames on our online store, but all of our print formats can be framed. We also can offer a “floating” frame for our metal prints which makes the artwork look like it is floating inside the frame. They are very cool. Contact us and we can show you samples of a float frame. Make note that metal prints and acrylic prints do not need to be framed, but can be. We recommend that all images be mounted by experienced professionals. Use a soft, high quality microfibre cloth when handling all photographs. Ensure that your paper print photograph is cold mounted only. We recommend mounting on a completely smooth, high-quality, dimensionally stable substrate. Please be aware that mounting your paper photograph on a softer surface like foam core will increase the likelihood of the photograph developing orange peel, or subtle dimpling, on the surface. Please know that if your Lane Smith Photography print is damaged from handling or during the mounting process, Lane Smith Photography is not liable for the damage or replacement costs. Be sure to use a reputable and insured frame shop to mount or frame your photograph.
-
Is the art signed? We currently offer unsigned, open edition artwork. Signed, limited editions will be available in the future.
-
How do I hang my artwork?Your Lane Smith Photography artwork has been shipped with the appropriate hanging equipment already attached to the back of the metal and acrylic prints. Picture hangers and/or wall anchors are recommended but are not included with your purchase as we are not aware of how and where you wish to mount your photograph. Paper Prints come rolled or on a hard smooth substrate (if desired) without framing or hanging materials.
-
How do I clean my artwork?Extreme caution should be used whenever it is necessary to clean the surface of your Fine Art photograph. Per the manufacturer’s instructions, dust the picture glazing with a soft, damp cloth or chamois. Apply only light pressure, rinse with clean water, and dry by blotting the cloth. Dry or gritty cloths may cause surface scratches and create a static electric charge on the surface. Do not use window cleaning sprays, kitchen scouring compounds, or solvents such as acetone, gasoline, or lacquer thinner to clean your image, as this may cause permanent damage to your image.
-
How do I light my artwork?Lighting your image properly involves using a mixture of spotlights and spreads. The proper degree of spread will depend on the distance of the light fixture from the photograph. While several light bulbs can sufficiently light your image, we recommend using MR16 halogen bulbs. It is best to seek the advice of an electrician or lighting professional to ensure the proper installation of lighting to complement your space.
-
